The snow and strong winds have caused the closure of several key routes in the northern counties of Catalonia. Among the closed roads is the final stretch of the Bonaigua pass, due to avalanche risk.
The BV-4024 at Coll de Pal is also out of service due to strong winds and snow accumulation, along with the GIV-4016 in Toses. These restrictions primarily affect Vall d’Aran, Alta Ribagorça, Pallars Sobirà, Alt Urgell, Cerdanya, and Ripollès.
Authorities recommend exercising extreme caution and avoiding unnecessary travel in the areas most affected by the snowfall.
The use of special equipment is mandatory at about twenty points on the road network. Restrictions are notable on the N-260, both at the Collada de Toses and the Port del Cantó.
Chains are also required on the C-38 between Sant Joan de les Abadesses, Molló, and Coll d’Ares, and on the N-230 between Vilaller and Vielha, including the Vielha Tunnel, in addition to the C-13 between Llavorsí and Esterri d’Àneu.
