The Annour Islamic Community in Ripoll has dismissed its imam after he was arrested by the Mossos d'Esquadra last week for the alleged sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl.

The suspect, who also served as an Arabic language teacher, was detained last Thursday. On Saturday, the Ripoll court released him without bail but imposed a restraining order, prohibiting him from coming within 150 meters of the victim or contacting her while the investigation continues.

"We show a firm commitment to the protection of minors, respect, transparency, and strict compliance with current legality."
