The R3 Rodalies line will restore rail traffic this Monday between Ribes de Freser and Puigcerdà, following the completion of repair works on tunnels damaged by the January storm.

The restoration of service will allow for a connection between La Garriga and Puigcerdà with five daily trains in each direction. Despite the recovery of rail traffic on this section, Renfe has confirmed that supplementary bus services will be maintained to cover the capacity that cannot yet be guaranteed due to temporary speed restrictions and ongoing maintenance tasks.
The main interventions, carried out by Adif, focused on the comprehensive reconstruction of the tunnel located between Ribes de Freser and Planoles, including structural reinforcement and waterproofing. Additionally, repairs were made at various points in the Toses tunnel, along with surface cleaning and sanitation.
In parallel, conservation work has been carried out over a stretch of more than 31 kilometers, including vegetation control, drainage improvements, and the consolidation of trenches around La Molina. The installation of protective mesh on slopes will continue over the coming weeks, as these tasks are compatible with train operations.
