The Mossos d'Esquadra are investigating a unique robbery at the Núria Sanctuary Hotel in Queralbs, where thieves used a sled to transport a heavy safe.

During the early hours of Monday, three hooded individuals broke into the historic building. They managed to move a 300-kilogram safe by placing it on a mattress and then onto a sled to navigate through more than a meter of snow in the Pyrenees.
Evidence suggests the criminals used a radial saw to open the safe before throwing it down a mountainside. Staff from the Vall de Núria ski resort recovered the empty safe on Tuesday near the rack railway tracks in an area known as El poste tort.
Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the hotel and the Queralbs railway stations. Although the robbery was meticulously planned, authorities believe the amount of cash stolen was not significantly high.
