Ripoll Town Council has started warning residents of fines up to 750 euros for depositing garbage bags in public waste bins, a recurring issue of uncivil behavior.

Ripoll Town Council has placed informative signs on various waste bins in the municipality, reminding residents that the civic ordinance allows for fines of up to 750 euros for offenders who deposit garbage bags there.

"it occurs mainly on Tallaferro Street"

Sílvia Orriols · Mayor of Ripoll
This measure was taken due to the repetition of this poor practice, which, as Mayor Sílvia Orriols explained in the last municipal plenary session, is particularly frequent on roads like Tallaferro Street, located in the old quarter.
Municipal workers are currently trying to identify individuals who commit this misuse "almost daily." Leaving garbage bags in waste bins not only creates a negative visual impact but also prevents pedestrians from disposing of other waste.
Another cleanliness issue concerning the council is chewing gum stuck to the ground. The Mayor reported that although a pilot test with a machine was ineffective, the Council will look for new effective formulas at specialized trade fairs to remove the gum, especially in areas near establishments that close late.
