The operator Adif has preemptively suspended rail traffic between Cervera and Tàrrega on the Lleida-Barcelona line due to the high risk of rock detachment detected this Thursday.

The decision impacts Mid-Distance trains connecting Lleida and Barcelona. Adif announced on social media that the suspension is a precautionary measure aimed at preventing personal injuries, implicitly referencing the fatal accident in Gelida.
This closure occurs during a critical week for the Catalan railway network, which has seen at least three rock slides onto the tracks. The most serious was in Gelida, resulting in the death of a young train driver and injuring over forty people.

A crisis team formed by Renfe, Adif, and the Institut Cartogràfic i Geològic de Catalunya (ICGC) has detected 21 marked black spots on the railway network, according to claims made by train drivers.

In addition to the Gelida incident, a landslide was recorded last Friday on the R1 line, between the Tordera and Maçanet-Massanes stations. On Saturday, a third incident took place near the Cerdanyola station, on the same R4 line where the fatal accident occurred.
