Forestry technician Julià Rodríguez presented a collection of deer skulls and antlers in Cervera this March, highlighting the deep symbolic connection between the city and this animal species.

The exhibition, held at Sant Joan church, features biological remains found by Rodríguez over the last five years. The project aims to educate the public about the deer, an animal that is central to Cervera's coat of arms and its very name, which translates to 'land of deer'.

"I had a very strong connection with this world and started studying it."

While deer disappeared from the Segarra region long ago, recent sightings of fallow deer in Guissona and Torà suggest a potential return. The display also includes wild goat horns, allowing visitors to learn how deer shed their antlers annually while other ungulates keep them for life.
