The Paeria de Cervera has awarded the City Medal to a renowned cultural activist and sardana enthusiast, in recognition of his long dedication to promoting popular culture and local associations.

The plenary hall of Cervera's town council hosted a tribute yesterday afternoon for a prominent cultural promoter and president of the Colla Sardanista Jovencells. The council presented him with the award for his extensive career in the world of sardana and his involvement in the local associative fabric.

"The recognition made me very excited, because the things I have done have always been because I liked them and without valuing them beyond that."

The mayor, Jan Pomés, praised the honoree, describing him as “the model of an exemplary citizen who is not afraid to work for his town”. The proposal to grant him this distinction received the support of more than 30 entities and educational centers in the capital of Segarra.
Among his most notable achievements is having facilitated the participation of sardana dancers from Cervera in the opening ceremony of the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games, as well as the proclamation of Ciutat Pubilla de la Sardana in 1994. He was also one of the promoters of the Concurs de Sardanes Revesses and the Concurs de Sardanes de la Festa Major del Sant Crist. Furthermore, he was part of the organizing committees for the Three Kings' Parade, the walks to Montserrat, and the first editions of the Aquelarre festival.
