The Almatret Hunters Society culled 144 wild boars during the 2024/2025 season, transporting them to logistical centers for processing due to a lack of local infrastructure.

This figure comes from the Agriculture department's aid data, aimed at encouraging the capture of these animals to reduce their density and facilitate the introduction of the meat into the commercial circuit. The Almatret society was the only one in Les Garrigues that applied for the hunters' society aid in 2025.

"they are forced to take the dead specimens to Almatret and other Private Hunting Areas (APC) in Sanaüja (la Segarra) and Alòs de Balaguer (la Noguera) due to the lack of these services in Les Garrigues or Ponent, and insists on the need for them to be created in the area."

Following the outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) detected in Cerdanyola, the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food (DARPA) has announced that it will increase the funding for aid related to hunting and removing animals to logistical collection points for wild game and meat handling establishments.
This aid call was launched in 2021 to improve these infrastructures. According to a department note from November 2024, 50% of the total game managed by logistical points is sold outside Catalonia, mainly to Spanish companies, while 90% of the resulting products processed in Catalonia are exported to the rest of Europe.
