This first phase focused on the stretch from the town's entrance to the Enric Granados street roundabout, in front of BonPreu. In addition to asphalt renovation, various traffic calming measures have been implemented, including updated signage, the installation of raised elements and speed reducers, and new illuminated pedestrian crossings.
Half of the investment, 150,000 euros, was funded by the Servei Català de Trànsit (Catalan Traffic Service). This contribution aligns with the agency's policies to reduce accidents and enhance road safety, following the criteria established in the Local Road Safety Plan.
Specific actions include improved horizontal and vertical signage at the intersection of Lleida street and the Roman road, where a speed reducer and an accessible pedestrian crossing with better lighting have also been installed. At the junction with Ramon Berenguer IV street (Terra Ferma Urbanization), a central refuge has been created at the pedestrian crossing, signage and lighting have been improved, and a new northbound bus stop has been established.
At the intersection of Lleida and Mossèn Cinto Verdaguer streets, a left-turn lane has been added, relocating the bus stop and improving the pedestrian crossing. Sidewalks and access ramps have also been adapted, and more speed reduction elements have been installed. With this phase completed, planning is underway for the paving of the section from the Enric Granados roundabout to Nord street, with execution expected during 2026.
“"We are facing a very necessary action not only due to the degraded state of the asphalt in this area, but also because it is a section with very intense traffic where we had detected that vehicle speeds were sometimes too high."
