The event, which marks the beginning of the festivities, is scheduled for Sunday, May 3, at 12:00 PM, at the King's Castle (la Suda) on the Turó de la Seu Vella. Admission will be free for all attendees.
The proclamation will not only feature Gelonch's address but will also include a special concert by Ilerband. This street music group, associated with the Banda Municipal de Lleida and directed by Adrià Urrea, will entertain the day with their performance.
Antoni Gelonch, born in Lleida in 1956, is a prominent figure in the cultural sphere. He studied Pharmacy and Law at the University of Barcelona, further pursuing his education at institutions such as the University of Grenoble, Harvard, and IESE. His professional career includes a decade in positions within the Generalitat and twenty-two years in multinational pharmaceutical companies, which led him to reside in cities like Boston and Paris.
Currently, he presides over the Fundació Privada Horitzons 2050, is a renowned print collector, and author of numerous books. His contribution to the cultural world has been recognized with the Creu Sant Jordi 2023 and the Gold Medal of the City of Lleida for cultural merit, both distinctions received in the same year.
