The collision left a total of 43 people injured, as reported by the Servei d’Emergències Mèdiques (SEM). Of these, four are in critical condition and another nine are in less serious condition. The vehicle was operating the interurban route between Lleida and Granja d’Escarp and had just left the Lleida bus station when the incident occurred.
The causes of the accident are still unknown and are under investigation. One of the hypotheses being considered is loss of control by the driver. The mayor of Lleida, Fèlix Larrosa, described the event as "the most serious that has occurred in the city of Lleida".
The SEM deployed 11 units, one medicalized helicopter, and a team of psychologists to assist the affected individuals. The injured were transported to the Arnau de Vilanova Hospital. The Bombers de la Generalitat (Generalitat Firefighters) dispatched 11 crews to the scene to manage the situation.
