The popular initiative Salvem Cal Macià-Casa Vallmanya today filed a complaint with the Lleida Prosecutor's Office against the Ministry of Culture and Alcarràs City Council for negligence in protecting former President Macià's family home.

The collective Salvem Cal Macià-Casa Vallmanya presented the complaint this Monday, attributing to both institutions alleged crimes against heritage and prevarication for “deliberately” failing to comply with the obligations granted by the Catalan Cultural Heritage Law.

"With this step, we bring all available information to the attention of the prosecution, so that they may investigate whether our suspicions are true and the two administrations have committed crimes against Catalan cultural heritage."

The entity asserts that the administration is “well aware” of the advanced state of ruin the house presents, a situation they directly attribute to the institutions' “negligence and irresponsibility” in protecting the property over the last nine years.

We are in a critical situation and the state of the house does not allow for further delays, deceptions, or new excuses.

The summer house of President Francesc Macià in Vallmanya, within the municipality of Alcarràs, was declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest (BCIN), in the category of historical site, by the Government last July.
