A couple from Rialp has had their prison sentence for cocaine trafficking in the Lleida Pyrenees confirmed, with payments made via Bizum, as ratified by the High Court of Justice of Catalonia.

The High Court of Justice of Catalonia (TSJC) has confirmed the prison sentences imposed on a couple from Rialp for trafficking cocaine in the region and collecting payments for the drugs through Bizum. The rulings uphold the decisions made by the Audiencia de Lleida last June, rejecting the appeals filed by the defense.
The investigation, conducted by the Mossos d'Esquadra over several months, culminated in the arrest of the individuals. During a search of their home, a package containing 95 grams of cocaine, several wrappers prepared for sale, and 21,520 euros in cash were found. A nightclub in Sort, managed by one of the convicted individuals, was also searched.
The sentence details that a total of 463 transactions, amounting to 20,782 euros, were proven to have been made via Bizum. The TSJC emphasized the proportionality of the sentence, arguing that one of the accused was permanently and habitually engaged in cocaine sales, generating significant income, and that they facilitated the drug to the other convicted person for commercialization. The decision can still be appealed before the Supreme Court.
