The main goal of the presented strategy is to make rail travel a more competitive option compared to private vehicles. To achieve this, the plan proposes a service restructuring based on regular schedules, higher frequency, and more efficient coordination with the interurban bus network.
In addition to Lleida, the document identifies other key infrastructures such as Sants, Sant Vicenç de Calders, and Maçanet-Massanes, which will be upgraded to facilitate transfers between different lines. These improvements will be implemented progressively over the next decade.
To meet the projected increase in demand, the plan includes the acquisition of new trains and the expansion of staff. The ultimate goal is to increase the current figure of 455,000 daily trips to one million trips per day by 2040, consolidating the train as the backbone of mobility in the region.
