Two officers from the Operational Resources Area (ARRO) of the Mossos d'Esquadra from Central Catalonia reunited at the Lleida police station with a two-year-old girl and her family, whose life they saved from drowning a few months ago.

The incident occurred a few months ago in the town of El Bruc, when a mother emerged from her vehicle with her young daughter in her arms, desperately calling for help. The girl was drowning, and the officers acted quickly to assist her.

"The little one was drowning, and at that moment we quickly grabbed her and started hitting her back while performing the Heimlich maneuver."

Thanks to the swift intervention, the girl gradually regained consciousness and breathing. The officers described those moments as «very intense», admitting they feared for the child's life, but celebrated that «fortunately, everything turned out well» and expressed their joy at being able to see her again.
The reunion, documented in a video released by the Catalan Police, showed the family and the girl playing in a park with the officers, who even gave her a toy patrol car. Such actions, according to the officers, fill them with pride for their work.
This event coincides with the celebration of the Dia de les Esquadres (Squads Day) in the Ponent and Pyrenees regions, where meritorious actions by officers will be recognized. The central event was held in Barcelona, where over a hundred medals were awarded, including one to a female officer who saved a young man who had fallen onto the tracks of the Barcelona Metro.
