Four prison officers at Ponent prison in Lleida were injured this Saturday while attempting to restrain an inmate who had set fire to his cell.

According to the CSIF union, the inmate destroyed a second cell after being moved from his original location due to the fire. The individual reportedly smashed window frames and threatened staff members before the physical confrontation occurred.
The union has called for highly aggressive inmates to be relocated to other facilities, stating that the current infrastructure in Lleida makes it difficult for officers to manage such violent incidents safely.
