Drivers in Lleida face a constant risk of vehicle damage due to large, water-filled potholes that make the free dirt parking lots unusable, particularly in areas like Cappont.

Parking in the dirt esplanades that function as free parking lots in different parts of the capital of Segrià has become a high-risk activity. The presence of large potholes, exacerbated by recent rainfall which has filled them with water, hinders circulation and threatens the integrity of the underside of vehicles.
One of the worst affected spots is the large plot located between Atlètic Segre and the Frederic Godàs school, in Cappont. Although the Paeria (City Council) repaired the dirt pavement just a year ago, the area has rapidly deteriorated again. The Popular Party (PP) criticized the state of this parking lot yesterday and demanded that it be paved to ensure its durability.

Driving through these areas puts the integrity of the underside of vehicles at risk, as drivers cannot estimate the depth of the water-filled potholes.

Other parking lots in a similar situation include the one next to the Santa Maria Hospital, the one in front of the Torre Vicens institute, and the one near the Pinyana school, in Balàfia. The Lleida City Council indicated that the immediate action brigade plans to carry out maintenance work on these plots as soon as the weather improves.
Regarding the parking lot behind the Universitat de Lleida (UdL) Cappont campus, one of the most frequently used, the problem is recurrent. The current UdL governing team confirmed yesterday the plan to materialize the urbanization of this plot during the current year, with an investment approaching 1.2 million euros and an execution period of three months.
