American educator Tyler Borges, a former NASA collaborator, has relocated to Pallars Jussà to serve as a language assistant in Tremp and La Pobla de Segur following political shifts in the United States.

Borges arrived in the Lleida region through a Ministry of Education program. Having worked for government agencies during the Joe Biden administration, he sought new international opportunities as his career prospects in the U.S. public sector changed.
Adapting to small mountain villages after living in Florida was a challenge, but Borges highlights the warm welcome from local schools. He is currently learning Catalan to better connect with the community, despite being required to speak only English during school hours.

"The struggles of Puerto Ricans for their identity and autonomy are very similar to those of the Catalans; they are almost two sides of the same coin."

While he hopes to uncover his family's historical roots in Catalonia, Borges will return to the United States this fall to attend law school, ending his tenure in the Pyrenees.
