Between Maundy Thursday and Easter Monday, hotels in the Pyrenees achieved an approximate occupancy of 80%, while establishments in the Lands of Lleida showed slightly lower figures. Reservations made between March 27 and April 1 ranged from 30% to 70%, according to the data provided. These figures confirm the positive initial forecasts for the holiday period.
“"Despite the bad weather in the last days of March, we have met our forecasts, and this encourages us to continue working to strengthen our position as a leading destination for inland and mountain tourism."
The ski sector also played a fundamental role. The 11 alpine and Nordic ski resorts in the Pyrenees, located in the province of Lleida, sold about 95,000 ski passes between March 27 and Easter Monday. This winter season has been described as historic, with snow depths exceeding 3 meters in some areas.
It is estimated that over 1.4 million ski passes have been sold throughout the ski season, meeting the objective set at the beginning of winter. Pending the final closing of results from all resorts, Tuixent-la Vansa expects to end the season on April 12.
In addition to skiing, tourists enjoyed the active tourism offerings, with water, land, and air activities. Highlights include rafting descents on the Noguera Pallaresa, Segre, Garona, and Noguera Ribagorçana rivers, mountain biking and horseback riding routes, and paragliding in areas like Àger or Organyà, which take over from the ski resorts.
