The Municipal Employment Institute (IMO) has launched a public space cleaning and maintenance brigade that has been working since July to enhance the city's cleanliness. The team, consisting of two operators and a coordinator equipped with high-pressure cleaning machines, is active in squares and streets within neighborhoods linked to the Employment Workshops projects: Centre Històric, Noguerola, Mariola, Clot, and Secà de Sant Pere.
Today, the brigade worked in the Plaça dels Pagesos, focusing on cleaning the pavement and walls, including the removal of graffiti. The Mayor of Lleida, Fèlix Larrosa, and the Councilor for Employment, Xavi Blanco, visited the operations and positively assessed both the work performed and the training received by the participants.
Soon, the team's activities will move to streets in the Centre Històric with higher hospitality activity, such as the areas around Sant Martí, Bonaire, Teuleries, and Camp de Mart. In these locations, traffic will be temporarily closed to carry out this intensive high-pressure water cleaning, which complements the daily work of the service concessionaire.
This initiative is subsidized by the Servei Públic d’Ocupació de Catalunya (Catalan Public Employment Service) and the Lleida City Council, as part of the Treball als barris (Work in the Neighborhoods) project.
