The Secretary General of Junts, Jordi Turull, highlighted during the signing ceremony that, unlike the first time, they are now “happy and convinced” due to the positive experience of the last two and a half years. The main goal of the alliance is to create a more powerful instrument to “make life easier and better” for citizens.
“"The joint work has been done side by side, setting aside the parties, guided by the common will to make life easier for the citizenry."
The leaders of both formations stressed that joining forces in the last elections was key to becoming the most voted force in the Lleida constituency, achieving numerous mayoralties, regional councils, and a majority of deputies in the Diputació de Lleida. Manel Solé defended the “very good work” done and the commitment to continue defending equal opportunities in the Lleida regions.
Turull expressed confidence in replicating this successful formula in other parts of the Catalan territory, both locally and regionally. He cited as examples the alliance with Suma't a Matadepera and the pact with Impulsem el Penedès, which he hopes to renew. The Secretary General of Junts indicated that they are looking for collaboration mechanisms where “what unites us is greater than what separates us”.
Taking advantage of the event, Jordi Turull also regretted that the new financing agreement was not accompanied by the prior publication of the fiscal balances by the Spanish Government. He criticized the lack of data to educate the public about “the systemic suffocation and plunder against Catalonia,” drawing a parallel with visiting a doctor: “Here they have gone to the pharmacy, and if we publish the balances, then we will see the diagnosis.”
