The performance will feature a "very diverse" repertoire, as announced by the Group's director, Mario Peña y Lillo. The musical selection will include pieces by Catalan composers such as Frederic Mompou, Enric Granados, and Isaac Albéniz, as well as Brazilian choros and themes from films like Star Wars, Game of Thrones, and music by Vangelis.
The ten young guitarists, aged between 14 and 19, will be joined by Peña y Lillo himself on guitar. The program also includes "space for the Baroque" with works by Bach and Vivaldi, and two compositions by Astor Piazzola, representing contemporary music.
Peña y Lillo expressed his dream of "broadening the age range" of the members to facilitate professionalization. He also highlighted that concerts like this in Aitona "help create new spaces" to introduce classical music to new audiences.
A piece by Jorge Cardoso, "Fiesta," will also be performed, fusing Catalan rumba with Argentinian rasgueo doble, stemming from the Group's professional connection with the composer in France.
The concert, held in the 18th-century Sant Antolí church, will conclude with a gastronomic tasting of seasonal fruit salad, following the tradition of the Escenaris Singulars project.
The project is supported by the regional service Jove Segrià, the Institut d’Estudis Ilerdencs, the Diputació de Lleida, and the participating town councils.
