Since mid-August, eight student-workers specializing in Decorative Painting from the Treball en els Barris project's Vocational Training Program, managed by the Municipal Employment Institute (IMO), have been carrying out improvement works at the Historic Center's Playroom, located on Tallada street.
The intervention included repainting the walls with a palette of neutral and soft colors, aiming to foster a warmer, calmer, and more welcoming atmosphere, adapted to children's needs and current trends in educational space design. The playhouse's image has also been updated, and deteriorated elements removed, with preparatory work done to ensure a quality finish.
These actions help maintain the facilities in good condition, offering a more pleasant, safe, and functional environment for the children, families, and organizations that use the playroom, which is intensively used throughout the year.
The intervention also allows the Vocational Training Program students to complete their education in a real work environment, while directly improving a municipal facility closely linked to the neighborhood's community life. The project has a significant social dimension, as many participants reside in the area where they undertake their practical training.
During this summer, participants of the Treball en els Barris program have also worked on other municipal facilities, including restoring the perimeter wall of the Sant Josep de Calassanç school and painting works at the EBM del Secà.
