The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in the Lleida region saw a year-on-year increase of 3.4% in July, surpassing the 3.1% recorded in June. This rise is primarily due to the performance of the housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels group, which grew by 8% year-on-year, and transport, which increased by 5.4%.
Restaurants and accommodation services also experienced price hikes, with a year-on-year rate of 4.3%, although this figure is four tenths lower than the previous month. Conversely, food and non-alcoholic beverages moderated their price increases, with a year-on-year rise of 1%, nine tenths less than in June. In fact, on a monthly basis, prices in this group decreased by 1.3%.
The clothing and footwear sector registered a negative year-on-year rate of -3.1%, intensifying the fall compared to June's -1.5%. Other notable year-on-year increases occurred in insurance and financial services (3.5%) and in personal care, social protection, and miscellaneous goods and services (2.9%), the latter rising 1.1 points from the previous month.
In the monthly comparison with June, recreational, sports, and cultural activities saw the largest price increases, up 2.5%. Transport rose by 2.1%, and housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels by 1.9%. In contrast, clothing and footwear experienced the most significant drop, at 9.8%, coinciding with the summer sales period, while furniture and household items fell by 1.4%.
