The city of Lleida officially ended its Carnival celebrations this Wednesday with the traditional Burial of the Sardine, a symbolic event that transitions the city from revelry to Lent.

The funeral cortege started at Pi i Margall street, near the Enric Granados Auditorium. The procession, featuring the remains of Pau Pi, traveled through the main commercial streets, including Major street and Paeria square, following a hearse in a mock-mourning atmosphere.
The ceremony concluded at Ereta square with a farewell speech to the Carnival King and the final burial. During the event, the winners of this year's Carnival Parade competition were also announced to the public.
Local celebrations will continue in specific neighborhoods over the coming days. Pardinyes will hold its festivities next Saturday, followed by the Bordeta neighborhood on February 28th.
