The football club Lleida CF will participate in the trial against former director Albert Esteve on March 18 in Lleida to clarify that the current organization is not liable for past fraud.

The case involves an alleged 893,455 euro fraud against the Social Security system between 2014 and 2019. Prosecutors are seeking a six-year prison sentence for Esteve and a fine of 2.68 million euros regarding the contracts of 90 employees.

"We defend that criminal liability is not subject to succession because the club has complied with regulations."

The current board of Lleida CF argues that the legal actions were initiated before the club's restructuring. A previous due diligence report identified financial risks totaling 9.1 million euros inherited from former managers.
