The Lleida City Council approved a motion this February expressing formal opposition to the Torre Salses shopping center project while dismissing individual objections to the city budget.

The motion against the suburban shopping mall was supported by PP, ERC, Junts, and Comú. These groups advocated for local commerce and the Station Plan (Pla de l'Estació) as a more sustainable urban alternative. The PSC voted against the motion, defending the project's legality and potential investment.

"It is an obsolete commercial model that will cause shops to close in the city center."

Regarding the municipal finances, the council rejected three appeals that aimed to cut funding for civic hubs in Balàfia and Les Josefines. This decision clears the way for the budget to be automatically approved within 30 days.
The session also confirmed the Islamic community's withdrawal from a land plot in the Frares industrial estate and the appointment of Joan Ramon Castro as a new city councilor for Junts.
