The support system for summer fruit campaign workers and seasonal laborers in Lleida has been active for almost a month. Since its launch, Pavilion 3 at the current fairgrounds has provided accommodation for an average of 79 individuals arriving in the Lleida region for work. In the latest available record, from Thursday, June 25th, 93 people stayed overnight at the pavilion, which has a maximum capacity of 100.
For this year's fruit campaign, a new service has been implemented: the Seasonal Workers' Welcome Center (CATemporers 1), located in the Caparrella area. This center is intended for individuals arriving in Lleida with a work contract. Currently, 10 people are using these modules, which cost five euros per day and prioritize workers from the 'Horta' region. The facilities have space for 32 people.
Additionally, the Municipal Urban Agenda Company (EMAU) has made 16 of its apartments available for seasonal workers, as in previous years. The City Council has reported that 65 people currently reside there, comprising 59 men and six women. These accommodations, like CATemporers 1, require a work contract and are not for transient individuals. In total, 90 places are offered in these apartments.
The City Council manages all applications and attends to individuals through the Single Office, initially located at Mercolleida and now at Fira de Lleida. Since the campaign began, 833 people have visited this office.
