The Lleida City Council and the Department of Health announced in March 2026 their intention to expand the Balàfia CAP by transferring municipal land for new facilities.

Local officials are currently working on the land transfer required to enlarge the Balàfia CAP, which holds the distinction of being the first primary care center established in the city. The project aims to improve patient care and overall operational efficiency in the Segrià region.
The announcement coincided with the official opening of the renovated Prat de la Riba CUAP. This facility has undergone a significant upgrade, including two floors for emergencies and specialized areas for radiology, pediatrics, and complex wound care.
The Prat de la Riba renovation also features expanded waiting rooms, new consultation offices, and the restoration of the building's main entrance, significantly improving accessibility for local residents.
