The historic La Meta building in Lleida was covered with protective tarps this February to safeguard its crumbling facade, which was recently exposed during the construction of a new bus station.

The tarps installed on the former flour mill, designed by architect Francesc de Paula Morera i Gatell, feature printed replicas of the original architectural elements. This measure follows the demolition of adjacent buildings, which revealed the severe structural and ornamental decay of the 1915 modernist landmark.
Located in the Pardinyes district, the building operated until 2012. It is renowned for its unique blend of brickwork, metal structures, and traditional Valencian tiles. The current exposure has highlighted urgent needs for repairs on its roof and decorative features.

"The mayor has requested that the 4.5 million euros saved in the station's contract award be used to rehabilitate La Meta."

Fèlix Larrosa · Mayor of Lleida
The Lleida City Council is currently urging the Generalitat de Catalunya to allocate surplus funds from the bus station project toward the restoration of this iconic site in the Segrià region.
