Lleida's PP proposes tax cuts and anti-squatter office to boost housing

The People's Party (PP) spokesperson in Lleida, Xavi Palau, has introduced a plan to revitalize the local real estate sector through tax reductions and administrative simplification.

During a housing seminar held on February 21st at the Museu Morera, the party gathered a hundred attendees to discuss the current crisis. Xavi Palau advocated for fiscal incentives for public-interest projects and called for a significant budget increase for the Urbanism department to expedite building permits.

The event was attended by the president of the PP of Catalonia, Alejandro Fernández, who emphasized that housing rights must remain compatible with private property rights. Additionally, MP Sergio Sayas criticized left-wing policies for shifting responsibility onto property owners.
In a technical panel moderated by Montse Berenguer, professional leaders such as Josep Maria Esteve (API) and Lluís de la Fuente (Architects) called for common sense regarding rent-controlled zones and the availability of urban land. Representatives from COELL and the Promoters Association warned that excessive regulation is driving up housing costs.
