Given the severity of the situation, Civil Protection will send an ES-Alert message to the mobile phones of the affected population this Wednesday afternoon. Interior Minister Núria Parlon chaired the CECAT meeting to coordinate emergency responses for an event that could continue into Saturday.
Counties under red alert include much of the central coast and inland areas, as well as the mountains and the plains of Lleida. Authorities recommend avoiding unnecessary travel and staying away from trees or structures that could fall due to the wind.
