Lleida resident and prison officer Miguel Pueyo was sworn in this Monday as a new councillor in Tarrés, Les Garrigues, despite receiving only one vote in the 2023 elections.

Pueyo was part of a 'ghost list' for the PSC. His appointment follows the resignations of former mayor Carles Móra (Junts) and councillor Maite Royo (ERC). With no other candidates available on their respective lists, the socialist representative stepped in to maintain the local government.

"It was a matter of coherence and responsibility. One more resignation would have left the town hall in the hands of a management commission."
