The Lleida City Council has launched the fifth edition of its self-defense workshop, where 40 women are learning aikido techniques at the Escola La Mitjana sports hall.

The course, titled Defensa't amb la no violència, is led by Mikel Fernández, president of the Club Aikido Lleida. The training focuses on using an opponent's strength to neutralize threats quickly, ideally within five seconds to avoid a prolonged physical struggle.

"You never know when it will be useful to be able to protect yourself from someone."
