The Government of Catalonia has announced a new grant scheme of 25 million euros to promote the creation of biogas and digestate plants, focusing on projects adapted to the local territory.

This initiative, presented by the Minister of Agriculture, aims to support proposals that integrate efficiently into the rural environment. Priority will be given to projects driven by groups of livestock farmers and located within a maximum radius of 35 kilometers from the farms where the livestock manure will be processed.
The announcement was made during a visit to Alcarràs Bioproductors, an entity that brings together 150 farming families from the Segrià area. This local initiative already operates a biogas plant and a composting plant, transforming organic waste into agricultural fertilizers.
This measure is part of a broader strategy by the Generalitat to promote sustainable energy projects. Recently, the construction of a biomethane plant in Campredó, promoted by a Valencian firm, has been declared a strategic business project, which speeds up its processing by up to 50%.
