The Government of Catalonia has authorized Ifercat to update the technical studies for the Transversal Railway Axis, a strategic line connecting Lleida and Girona as of March 2026.

The project, with a budget of 5.46 million euros, aims to create a new inland corridor for both passengers and goods. This infrastructure is designed to reduce pressure on the Barcelona metropolitan area by providing a direct link between western and eastern Catalonia.

"We celebrate that the Government has decided to work on updating the Transversal Railway project, as we have repeatedly demanded."
