The Lleida Health Region recorded a total of 113,678 emergency cases between December 1st and February 28th, averaging over 1,263 daily attendances, highlighting primary care's crucial role in demand management.

The 2025-2026 winter plan in the Lleida Health Region concluded with a significant volume of healthcare activity. During December, January, and February, a total of 113,678 emergency cases were attended, representing an average of over 1,263 daily attendances across the territory.
Primary care absorbed the majority of this demand, managing 76% of cases, particularly those of lower complexity. The Primary Care Emergency Centers (CUAP) in Lleida and Mollerussa, along with continuous care points, were fundamental in channeling this activity and alleviating pressure on hospitals.
Regarding hospital care, over 27,326 emergency cases were registered, of which only a minority required admission. Hospitals implemented measures such as short-stay units and staff reinforcements to optimize care and patient flow during peak periods.

Influenza has been, once again this winter, the predominant respiratory virus, with activity starting earlier than in other seasons and reaching its peak in mid-December, with an incidence rate of 564 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

Coordination between different care levels was a key aspect of the campaign. The full operational status of the Mollerussa CUAP improved accessibility and reduced travel to the capital. Additionally, mechanisms were established to refer mild cases from hospitals to primary care, and self-triage tools were offered to guide citizens.
The Medical Emergency System (SEM) adapted its resources to peak activity hours, and the 061 Salut Respon service handled 14,723 inquiries, directing them to the most appropriate healthcare resource. This winter's data remains consistent with the previous year's, underscoring the importance of coordinated and flexible healthcare management.
