The participatory process, initiated by the municipal government early in its term, seeks to utilize this key urban space in the city center to generate a new pole of attraction that could counteract the effect of the future Torre Salses commercial center. The responses collected, both by the City Council and through an open survey by the newspaper Segre, are grouped into four major areas: sports, citizen services, commerce, and leisure.
Sports activities are the majority preference, with 115 total mentions. Requests for athletics facilities (42 mentions), a gym (23 votes), or a swimming pool (15 mentions) stand out. The variety of disciplines proposed, ranging from tennis and basketball courts to indoor football, reflects the need for multi-sport facilities in the neighborhood.
“"This facility can be an opportunity for us to retain businesses and clientele, especially in our case, since we are literally next door."
The second most voted category, with about 150 global proposals, focuses on citizen services. The creation of a parking lot has been the most recurrent request with 62 mentions, despite the existence of an underground parking facility nearby, in Blondel. Other ideas include a botanical garden (15 votes), a hostel (11 mentions), or a security center for the Guàrdia Urbana or the Mossos d'Esquadra.
Regarding the commercial and leisure sector, which totals nearly 167 proposals, citizens mostly request a general shopping center (50 votes) or a local produce market (35 mentions). There is also interest in dining spaces, such as cafes and restaurants, and minority proposals like libraries, residences for the elderly, or even a large mosque.
