Unlike the previous night, no arrests were made. According to sources from the Mossos d’Esquadra, the identified youths may be linked to robberies carried out in shops belonging to the Pakistani community. Both police forces, Mossos and Guardia Urbana, have announced that this special operation will continue throughout the week.
This measure was implemented after three consecutive nights of disturbances with clashes between two groups began last Friday. In addition to intensified surveillance, police authorities are undertaking mediation efforts with the leaders of the involved groups to try and resolve the conflict.
During the first night of the operation, 7 arrests had been made. These individuals were part of a large group of Pakistani origin who, the previous weekend, had been subjected to assaults by a group of youths from various backgrounds, including some minors. On Tuesday evening, police proceeded to identify members of this second group, but without making any arrests.
Between Friday and Sunday, a total of 5 arrests had been recorded in connection with the disturbances between both sides.
The Lleida City Council has been actively involved in follow-up meetings regarding the situation with the police forces. It is anticipated that this Wednesday evening, Mayor Fèlix Larrosa will visit the special operation to oversee its development.
