Hotels in the Catalan Pyrenees are attracting the most demand, with occupancy rates ranging between 90% and 100%. Several establishments have already reported being fully booked. Yesterday's influx was evident with long queues to access Aigüestortes National Park and the Espot car park being completely full of vehicles.
In the Lleida Lands, the same organization estimates hotel occupancy at around 50%. This figure represents a decrease from the 90% recorded during the total solar eclipse, when the area of complete observation reached its peak.
Campsites also show very positive prospects for this weekend. In the Noguera region and the Pyrenees, camping pitches and bungalows are close to maximum capacity, confirming the high tourist demand during one of the busiest periods for visitors in the province.
Regarding rural tourism, the occupancy forecast stands at a notable 95% for both the Pyrenees and the Lleida Lands. In Pallars Sobirà, water activities, a major draw for active tourism, anticipate an 80% reservation rate for this weekend. The sector still has room for growth with last-minute bookings, which will depend on weather developments.
Josep Castellarnau, president of the Lleida Hospitality Federation, anticipates that the peak number of visitors will be reached this weekend, with a gradual decline starting from August 20th. Castellarnau positively assessed the accumulated tourist occupancy, which has ranged between 65% and 80%, describing the season as "more or less like every year" and expressing satisfaction with August.
