Two parallel demonstrations fill Lleida for real equality on 8M

Hundreds of people took to the streets of Lleida this March 8th to demand real equality between men and women during a day marked by two simultaneous mobilizations.

The capital of Segrià hosted two separate protest events. The Marea Lila march started at Ricard Viñes Square and ended at Sant Joan Square, gathering around 600 people according to organizers and 300 according to the Local Police. Meanwhile, the Lleida Feminist Coordinator marched from 8 de Març Square to Sant Francesc Square.

During the manifesto reading at Sant Joan Square, special emphasis was placed on the situation of rural women and the need for effective equality in the countryside. The text also linked the feminist struggle with environmental justice and anti-militarism.
