The agricultural union Unió de Pagesos has urged the Catalan Government to provide more resources and urgent actions to reduce the high density of rabbits causing damage across the Lleida plain.

The union warns that, according to available information from the population control plans (PCPs), the administration has failed to intervene in one of the seven urgent action zones, 20 of the 40 alert zones, and 84 of the 112 surveillance zones established to mitigate damages.
The agrarian organization details that, according to the autumn census by the Departament d'Agricultura, the average density in the PCP area stands at 130.43 rabbits per 100 hectares. Although a slight decrease has been observed in urgent action zones, the values remain critically high.

Farmers have assumed 63.5% of the population control actions and 40% of the captures, a disproportionate burden compared to the Administration and hunting license holders.

Unió de Pagesos stresses the importance of farmers reporting damages, especially now that the peak season for damage begins. Therefore, the union has requested that the communication form be simplified and that this information be integrated into the analytical view of the PCPs.
