The Catalan railway network will add 24 more points with speed restrictions next week, increasing from 155 to 179 locations where drivers must slow down. This increase, which affects approximately 130 kilometers of track overall, is detailed in the Weekly Document of Temporary Speed Limitations that the railway administrator has sent to its personnel.
“"If the manager establishes temporary speed limitations, we follow them. The primary goal is to restore routes with all safety guarantees."
All Regional and Rodalies lines in Catalonia have established limitations, with the exception of the RL3 line in Lleida. The most affected line is the R15, which will accumulate 42 restriction points, seventeen of which are located between Riba-roja d'Ebre and Reus. Also notable are the R4 and RG1 lines, which incorporate six new limitations each, and the RL4, with four new sections between Cervera and Manresa due to flood risk.
The main reason for establishing these speed reductions is the condition of the track (24% of cases), followed by the condition of the switch mechanism (13%) and the 'trenches' (11%). By province, Barcelona accumulates the most restricted locations (86), followed by Tarragona (57), Girona (28), and finally Lleida (8).
