The city of Lleida hosts the Catalonia Blood Donor Marathon from January 8 to 17 aiming to recover reserves that typically drop by about 20% during the Christmas period.

The campaign, which extends to 82 Catalan municipalities, has the Hospital Universitari Arnau de Vilanova as the main donation point in the capital of Segrià. This edition features the highest number of campaigns to date, with a total of 101 blood and plasma collections scheduled.

"The citizen response is key to recovering reserves, which usually decrease by about 20% during the Christmas period."

Fèlix Larrosa · Mayor of Lleida
The mayor, Fèlix Larrosa, highlighted Lleida's involvement in the initiative, announcing that the Paeria building will be illuminated in red on January 10 to raise awareness about the importance of donation. Over the last year, the city registered 4,773 donors, 450 of whom were first-time donors.
In addition to the capital, the Marathon will reach several municipalities in the Lleida region, including towns such as Agramunt, Anglesola, les Borges Blanques, Torrefarrera, Tàrrega, Torregrossa, and la Fuliola, reinforcing the call for citizen participation.
