The grant denial stems from the fact that the project submitted for adapting the Chalet for cultural uses only achieved a score of 7 out of 16 points, falling one point short of the required minimum of 8. The Paeria has filed an appeal against the resolution, requesting an upward revision of the score.
“"The rehabilitation of the modernist chalet in Camps Elisis is one of the municipal government's priorities in the 2026 budget to recover it as a leisure and cultural space for families."
The Paeria's argument for justifying a higher score (which should be 11 points, according to the council) focuses on the need for urgent action due to the deficient state of the ceramic vaults in the ground floor ceiling. It also claims that the quality of the architectural intervention, the sustainability of the materials, and the social and territorial impact of activating the property's values were not adequately assessed.
Despite the denial of the Culture grant, the council emphasizes that the restoration is secured. The work has €789,000 guaranteed through the Catalonia Unique Works and Services Plan (Puosc), and the municipal budget project for 2026 includes the corresponding co-financing allocation.
