Salvador Ribas, manager of the Montsec Astronomical Park, confirmed that the Terres de l'Ebre and southern Lleida will be the best locations to observe the total solar eclipse on August 12 at 8:30 PM.

According to meteorological statistics maps presented by Salvador Ribas, manager of the Montsec Astronomical Park (PAM), the probability of clouds or storms is significantly lower inland than along the coastal strip. This analysis positions the Ebro Delta and the southern counties of Lleida as prime areas for observing the astronomical phenomenon.

"I believe that probably the best place in Catalonia will be the Ebro Delta area, because it is a very flat area, and although it lasts less time here, the meteorological statistics are quite favorable for us to have many possibilities of success in the Lleida lands."

The total solar eclipse, scheduled for 8:30 PM on August 12, will last a maximum of one minute in the Terres de l'Ebre and about 30 seconds in southern Lleida. Ribas stressed the importance of safety, noting that only approved glasses with adequate filters should be used, such as those with cardboard frames and black polymer sheets, which cost between three and four euros.
The Montsec Astronomical Park will use its scheduled daytime sessions to educate the public about the eclipse and the necessary safety measures. Observation should be done facing west, as the sun will be very close to setting, with an inclination of only 5 degrees.
