Flu incidence in the Lleida health region decreased for the second consecutive week, registering 1,196 diagnoses between December 29 and January 4, according to Sivic data.

The flu rate stood at 259 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the Pla de Lleida and 265 in the Alt Pirineu i Aran. This figure represents a 26.76% drop compared to the 1,633 cases reported the previous week, allowing the region to move from a "very high" to a "high" transmission level. However, the incidence in the area remains higher than in the rest of Catalunya, where the level is already moderate.
The peak of the flu epidemic was reached in Lleida during the Christmas week, approximately one month earlier than the previous season. Most of the 1,002 cases recorded in the plain counties were detected in people under 60, with 408 diagnoses in the 15 to 44 age group.
Regarding other respiratory illnesses, the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), which causes bronchiolitis, also experienced a significant decline. Bronchiolitis cases fell by 28%, dropping from 50 to 36 diagnoses in the Lleida demarcation.
In contrast, Covid-19 cases registered a slight increase. 23 cases were detected in the plain, up from 18 the previous week, and in the mountain counties, they rose from 2 to 9. The vaccination coverage against Covid-19 in the area is 27%.
