The 33rd edition of Jazztardor will fill Lleida with jazz starting October 18, featuring international figures and local talents, with tributes to Miles Davis and John Coltrane.

The international jazz festival of Lleida, Jazztardor, reaches its 33rd edition, presenting a lineup with prominent international jazz figures and highlighting local young talent. The Sala Alfred Perenya hosted the event's presentation, presided over by Pilar Bosch, Councilor for Culture, Andreu Vàzquez, director of the Institut d’Estudis Ilerdencs (IEI), Anna Simó Jové, Technical Director of the Festival, and Mireia Gonzàlez Antó, president of the Fundació Castell del Remei.
Councilor Pilar Bosch emphasized the work of Josep Ramon Jové, artistic director, in bringing significant jazz figures to Lleida and consolidating the festival. She also highlighted efforts to make the festival accessible to all audiences, mentioning free concerts such as the one at Celler de Sanui on October 18, as part of the L’Art a l’Horta festival, and an itinerant performance through the Mercadet de Rambla Ferran on November 1 by the Gumbo Jass Band. "Jazz is freedom," she stated.
From the IEI, its director Andreu Vàzquez announced the performance of the emerging Lleida trio Lladó-Peralta-Arguimbau at the institution's Aula Magna, emphasizing the city's young talent.
Technical Director Anna Simó detailed the presence of top-tier international artists such as saxophonists James Carter, Blue Lou Marini, and Perico Sambeat, and guitarist Jim Snidero. Pianist Bruce Barth will perform at the Museu Morera, improvising over images from the work of Garcia Lamolla, and will receive the Amic del Jazztardor award. Simó also highlighted singer Jessica Abu, who will perform as part of the I Congrés de Dones que mouen ciutats, organized by the Paeria. The traditional Jam Sessions at the Cafè del Teatre will be dedicated to the centenary of Miles Davis and John Coltrane.
The official festival opening will be on October 18 at the Castell del Remei with the Jim Snidero Quartet. Mireia González, from the Fundació Castell del Remei, highlighted the seven-year collaboration with the festival, which combines jazz and wine. The award received by Cérvoles Celler, Premi Vinari al Millor Vi Català 2026, was also mentioned.
The festival will include two exhibitions: "Tocats pel jazz" by Jaume Sancho Roig at the Castell del Remei (from October 18 to November 30), and "Bob Loves Jazz" by Jordi Pou at the Cafè del Teatre (from November 11 to January 10, 2027).
Jazztardor maintains its quality line, offering established figures, emerging names, local, and international jazz.
