Regarding the information about the expulsion of councilor Josep Roca from VOX during the plenary session last September, the Paeria reminds that the mayor's action was in accordance with the Municipal Regulations to guarantee the proper functioning of plenary sessions and institutional respect.
The mayor asserts the right of all public representatives to freely express and defend their political ideas and positions, always within the limits of good conduct, mutual respect, and the rules governing the Plenary.
The councilor's expulsion took place after the mayor issued him three calls to order, as provided for by the regulations. Following these warnings, the expulsion measure was adopted.
The City Council recalls that plenary sessions are the space for democratic representation of all citizens and that political debate must take place within the bounds of institutional and personal respect. In this regard, insults, disqualifications, or expressions that disrupt the normal proceedings of sessions are not permitted.
The Presidency of the Plenary will continue to apply the regulations with the same criteria for all municipal groups with the aim of preserving the dignity of the institution, the democratic quality of the debate, and respect among public representatives.
